Arcadia Firebirds soar past Stephen Decatur boy’s basketball
BERLIN, Md. – Arcadia boy’s basketball beat Stephen Decatur 79-62 on Wednesday night in Berlin.
The visiting Firebirds jumped ahead quickly, leading 21-16 at the conclusion of a fast-paced first quarter. Arcadia led by as much as 11 points in the first half, but Decatur closed the gap before the break to trail 35-30 at halftime.
Fueled by a 12-2 run to open the third quarter, Arcadia took control of the game in the second half, with 23 of senior Jordan Cropper’s 28 game-high points coming in the final two quarters.
The Seahawks would draw within single-digits at 53-62 with 5 minutes remaining in the fourth, but Arcadia closed the game outscoring Decatur by eight to clinch the victory.
The Seahawks were led offensively by Jonathan Purnell with 25 points in the game.
