American Cancer Society hosts Holiday Wrappings & Fashion Show
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The American Cancer Society hosted the ‘Holiday Wrappings Fashion Show’ and Luncheon’. The event was about raising awareness, and spreading good in the community.
The Ocean City Convention Center was the site. ACS Dir. of Development, Jason Plaia, said it’s about pushing forward the ACS initiatives.
“Celebrate the holiday season, in a way that will also bring it back to them in terms of mission. We want to make sure people leave with information about cancer screenings, information about the treatment options that are available.”
The event is one of the largest fundraising affairs for the American Cancer Society. Tuesday, they welcomed over 900 registered event-goers. Plaia says there was plenty for people to get involved in at the show.
“Headlined by an amazing fashion show that will end, but also auctions, online auctions, in-person auctions, and everyone partakes and has a good experience.
Some fashion on display included clothes from Alexis Jade Boutique, and CraZy LadyZ! Jan Patterson owns the CraZy LadyZ! and is also the chair for the fashion show.
Jan Patterson believes this is one of the best events on the entire shore.
“It’s been a great cause, the money that has been raised stays here on the eastern shore. I believe it’s the largest fundraising event that takes place in Ocean City annually.”
All the money donated goes right back to the local community. Plaia calling it an important effort.
“For every $50 dollars that is raised, it provides transportation to and from treatment appointments. $90 dollars that’s raised provides a place for someone to stay for one night.”
