Wor-Wic hosts free financial technology webinars

SALISBURY, Md. — Wor-Wic Community College is offering free financial technology webinars this month and in Dec.

Financial technology is a growing sector that explores how technology is changing money and finance with advancements like online banking and cryptocurrency.

Wor-Wic is collaborating with Symbiosis Skills & Professional University in India to offer the webinars. The schools signed a memorandum of understanding in August to foster more collaboration and exchange.

The live sessions will cover topics such as financial inclusion, leadership, emerging job roles in fintech, cybersecurity, and more, according to Dr. Deirdra G. Johnson, vice president of strategic initiatives and community engagement.

“We’re covering cybersecurity, the everyday uses of fintech, and we are also going to discuss careers because that is a growing market. We want to expose the campus community and the community at large to these opportunities,” Johnson said.
