Whitetail Open continues to grow with successful 2025 tournament

MILLSBORO, Del. – A local hunting tournament out in Millsboro has been growing rapidly over the past four years.

At the Gumboro Service station, the Whitetail Open was held once again in honor of the late David Brown, who first started the hunting tournament many years ago. The Whitetail open now attracts hundreds of hunters, both locals and out-of-towners.

With close to $35,000 in payouts, there were five separate competition categories: daily and weekly doe, heaviest buck, buck with the most points, and the youth competition.

Kyle Brown–along with his brother Kodi and their team–just wrapped up their fourth year running the tournament in memory of their father David. It has steadily grown, with increased entrance numbers and local sponsors.

In 2025, 300 hunters entered, including nearly 70 entries in the youth competition, which has always been one of the main focuses of the event.
