UPDATE: Teen Arrested for Bomb Threat Against Milford School District

UPDATE: The Milford Police Department (MPD) has arrested a 13-year-old from Seaford in connection with the bomb threat made against Milford School District on Monday.

The bomb threat was sent to the school via email in the beginning of the day. Through an investigation, detectives were able to determine a that a male juvenile from a different school district was the sender of the email. Detectives subsequently obtained a warrant for his arrest. 

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, the juvenile was brought to MPD by his parent and was charged with one felony count of terroristic threatening. The juvenile had a presentment through the Kent County Family Court and was released to his parent on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

“We will not tolerate these types of pranks and we will use every local, state, and federal resource available to find you. Thank you to the detectives who worked tirelessly through the night to identify this subject,” Chief Cecilia Ashe remarked on the incident. “Thank you to our community partners UNITED Church and Milford Movies 9 for stepping up when we reached out for help, as this is community policing in practice.”

This case remains an active investigation. Milford Police Department would also like to thank the Delaware State Police, Delaware Capitol Police and Newark Police for providing their K9 units to assist with this incident. 

MILFORD, Del. – The Milford Police Department responded to Milford High School (MHS) and Milford Central Academy (MCA) on Monday morning following the report of a bomb threat.

The Milford School District sent a message to parents at 9:13 a.m., alerting MHS and MCA families that an anonymous bomb threat had issued against the secondary campus. Students were subsequently being evacuated.

Milford Police confirmed on social media at 9:41 a.m. that both schools had been evacuated and all students are safe at this time. Authorities are actively working to clear the school buildings and ensure that the environment is secure.

The school district sent a second update to families at 9:50 a.m., indicating that students had been evacuated to Benjamin Banneker Elementary School and Milford Movies 9/Unified Church Campus.

School officials say that students will return to their campuses once the buildings are cleared. If parents would like to pick up students, they are able to do so at the reunification points.
