Two Dover Teens Arrested on Gun Charges Following Traffic Stop

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department (DPD) has arrested two teenagers following a traffic stop on Wednesday evening.

At approximately 5:18 p.m. on Nov. 5, the DPD‘s Street Crimes Unit and Delaware Probation and Parole conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of North DuPont Highway and Townsend Boulevard following a traffic offense. As a result of the stop, two 16-year-old males were taken into custody, and each juvenile was found in possession of a handgun.

As a result of the stop, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 300 block of Paradee Drive where an additional handgun was located.

The first 16-year-old male was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of marijuana by someone under the age of 18. He was committed to Stevenson House Detention Facility on $15,100 secured bail.

The second 16-year-old male was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of marijuana by someone under the age of 18. Hewas committed to Stevenson House Detention Facility on $12,100 secured bail.
