SU Field Hockey cruises past Denison in NCAA Tournament first round victory

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University Field Hockey beat Denison 5-0 o in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday.

While Salisbury largely controlled possession from the start, the game remained scoreless until late in the second quarter. The home team finally got on the board with just over four minutes remaining in the half, thanks to a goal from Morgan Bradford assisted by Kelly Webber. The Sea Gulls followed up that ice-breaker with another tally from Alex Kupper less than 60 seconds later, heading into the break up 2-0.

Salisbury expanded that lead on the final play of the third quarter, with Caroline Pusey chasing down a pass from Kaitlin Demodna in the circle and elevating a shot at the near post to make it 3-0.

The Sea Gulls secured the tournament victory with goals from Marli McDorman and another from Pusey in the closing minutes of the game.

Salisbury will play Dickinson College in the second round of the tournament on Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m. in Newport News, VA.
