Students Evacuated Following Threat Against Arcadia Middle

UPDATE: In an update posted to social media at 11:05 a.m., school officials stated that there is no continued threat to the middle school at this time.

“Law enforcement has concluded their sweep of the school, and in collaboration with division leadership,” the update read in part.

Students will finish lunch at AHS and then return to AMS for the remainder of the day.

 

UPDATE: In an update posted to social media at 10:20 a.m., school officials stated that there would be no need for early dismissal.

“AMS students will be eating lunch at AHS while law enforcement finishes their sweep of the building. At this time, there is no need for early pick-up. We will continue to provide updates as they are made available.”

 

OAK HALL, Va. – Students at Arcadia Middle School (AMS) have been evacuated following a threat made against the campus.

In a message posted to social media on Tuesday morning, Accomack County Public Schools said that students were safely outside of the building as of 9:14 a.m., and moved to Arcadia High School (AHS). All AMS instruction will continue at AHS until the middle school building is cleared.

School officials say that law enforcement is currently on the AMS campus and assessing the threat to the school.
