Somerset County Fair Brings Christmas Cheer to Princess Anne
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — The Somerset County Fair and its Junior Fair Board hosted their second annual Open Air Christmas Market ahead of Thanksgiving. The proceeds help support the Junior Fair Board and other causes.
The Somerset County Fair’s barn was turned into a Christmas wonderland for the event, filled with vendors, sweet treats, lights, and Christmas cheer, all to benefit the county’s Junior Fair Board.
“It’s a fun event filled with a lot of Christmas cheer. We have many vendors selling sweet treats. I’m selling cookies and brownies to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. We also have people selling their own crafts, so there’s a lot to see and a lot to buy,” Miss Fair Queen Trinity Sterling said.
The proceeds help provide Somerset County 4-H and the Junior Fair Board with the supplies they need.
“We raise money for the Junior Fair Board so they can get their belt buckles and prizes. I’m part of the Junior Fair Board, and we have our own booth where we’re doing a blind date for a book. We’re hoping to raise over $1,000 so we can do that,” Junior Miss Fair Queen Madison Heavenridge said.
The board hosted a Christmas tree competition, giving visitors a chance to vote for their favorite decorated tree.
“We have So Cool Sewing Club, Buttons and Bows, Junior Fair Board, of course, and Miss Trinity doing her booth. We also have a bunch of sweets, shirts, and more,” Heavenridge said.
Kids even wrote letters to Santa, sharing their most important Christmas wishes. Little Miss Fair Queen Brynlee wished for a Barbie dollhouse, and Little Mister Fair King Chase wished for mini-Legos.
