Sheriff of the year award

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. — Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis received what he said is the top award he has ever received.
Sheriff Mike Lewis accepted the 2025 Sheriff of the Year award from the Claremont Institute in Huntington Beach, California.
He attended the ceremony with Wicomico County leaders,  Council President John Cannon, State’s Attorney Jamie Dikes, my chief deputy, Gary Baker, and the chief deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office. He said he’s been a first responder for 41 years, and he’s proud to do what he does every day.
“I’m very honored to have been selected for that award. And defense of our Constitution, our blessings of liberty, and the American way of life, quite frankly, as you know, that’s what I stand for every single day. I believe in our Constitution. I believe in the blessings of liberty.”
He said it’s a highlight in his career.
