Search Warrant in Laurel Turns Up Cocaine, Pills
LAUREL, Del. – The Delaware State Police have arrested two individuals on felony drug and weapons charges after conducting a search warrant on Tuesday.
On Nov. 18, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit and the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on the 31000 block of East Trap Pond Road. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of 57-year-old David Vasquez and 27-year-old Bethany Dean for the distribution of illegal narcotics from their home.
Before the search warrant, Vasquez was seen leaving the residence in a Dodge Ram. Detectives pulled the vehicle over, and Vasquez was detained without incident. During the search warrant, Dean was detained in the residence. A search led to the discovery of the following items:
- Approximately 161.11 grams of powder cocaine
- Approximately 12.63 grams of crack cocaine
- Approximately 1.62 grams of heroin
- Approximately 9.62 grams of methamphetamine
- 91 oxycodone pills
- 10 gabapentin pills
- Five escitalopram pills
- Four knives greater than three inches in length
Vasquez was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and other related drug and weapons charge. He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $84,000 cash bond.
Dean was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where she was charged with the same crimes. She was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $84,000 cash bond.
