Salisbury Police offer holiday safety tips to avoid scams

SALISBURY, Md. — As the holiday season kicks off, so do scams.

Salisbury Police are urging residents to stay vigilant and protect themselves from fraud. Captain Ryan Koerner emphasized the importance of never giving personal information to unsolicited callers. He also advised against sharing Social Security numbers, birth dates, or credit card details over the phone.

Koerner also cautioned against online shopping scams. He recommended avoiding emails from unfamiliar sources and urged people to trust their instincts. “The best thing to do is not click on suspicious links, as they could contain viruses or lead to phishing scams that steal your data,” he said.

With package thefts on the rise during the holidays, police also recommend being home when expecting deliveries to prevent porch piracy.
