Somerset Republican Central Committee Nominates Candidate to Fill Del. Otto’s Seat
SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. – The Republican Central Committee of Somerset County has nominated a candidate to fill the vacant 38A seat in the Maryland House of Delegates.
Howard Kevin Anderson was selected by the committee following interviews held on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Princess Anne Library. Other interviewed applicants included three individuals from Somerset County, and one individual from Worcester County.
Anderson is a part of Wimberly Farms, Inc., a family farm operation that specializes in growing corn, soybeans, wheat, and barley. According to their website, Kevin is the third generation to work in the seed business, and he has been farming with his father and late grandfather all his life.
The seat was previously filled by Charles Otto, who recently passed on Oct. 17. He had represented the district since 2011, representing portions of Worcester, Wicomico, and Somerset counties.
As with all appointments, Anderson’s nomination will go to Governor Wes Moore for consideration. His appointment must be approved within 15 days.
