OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) is asking the public to come forward with any information that may assist in identifying the suspect responsible for a bank robbery that occurred last October.
At approximately 9:10 a.m. on Oct. 25, 2024, a suspect entered the Truist Bank located on Coastal Highway and passed a handwritten note to the teller demanding money. After taking an undisclosed amount of currency, the suspect left the scene on foot and was last observed heading northbound on Coastal Highway.
The suspect is described as a white male, late 50s to early 60s, approximately 5’11” with an average build. During the robbery, he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, jeans, gloves, glasses, and a medical-style mask.
Police say that despite an extensive, year-long investigation conducted by the OCPD Major Crimes Unit, the suspect has not yet been identified. To advance this investigation, the Ocean City Police Department is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the apprehension, arrest, and conviction of the perpetrator of the armed robbery.
The Ocean City Deputy Communications Manager, Ashley Miller told WMDT why they are offering money.
“We are offering that reward in hopes of getting that missing information that missing piece that connects all the pieces our detectives had to close out this bank robbery.”
OCPD is asking anyone who may have information, to contact Detective Amy Gutowski at agutowski@oceancitymd.gov or 410-520-5314.
