WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Salisbury City Councilwoman Michelle Gregory has suspended her campaign for Wicomico County Executive following D’Shawn Doughty’s resignation from City Council.

In a statement released on Thursday, Gregory expressed concern for the City of Salisbury amidst its unstable leadership.

“While our city deserves a mayor focused on inclusion, economic growth, and evidence-based policy, the administration has repeatedly chosen symbolic cultural battles instead of real progress,” Gregory stated. “Salisbury needs leadership that listens, collaborates, and delivers. Unfortunately, Mayor Taylor’s time in office has been defined by political distractions rather than meaningful results.”

Gregory announced that she will suspend her campaign for Wicomico County Executive so she can dedicate her full attention to restoring trust and accountability in Salisbury city government.

“My commitment has always been to the people of Salisbury first,” Gregory continued. “At this moment, my city needs me here. I will focus on rebuilding confidence in our
council, ensuring transparency, and fighting for the fair and responsible leadership our residents deserve.”

The councilwoman ended her statement by calling on her fellow city leaders to reaffirm their commitment to the community and to prioritize honesty and public service above all else.
