MD Natural Resources Police Looking for Missing Boater in Chesapeake Bay

CHESAPEAKE BAY – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police continue to search for a missing boater in the Chesapeake Bay.

Officers were dispatched on the morning of Friday, Nov. 14, for a report of an overdue boater, identified as 65-year-old Lonnie James Johnson of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland.

Johnson was last known to be operating a 23 foot, white, center console vessel. The vessel was found abandoned on Thursday, Nov. 13, by a reporting party in the area of Taylor’s Island in Dorchester County after tracking the man’s cell phone location.

Dive and aviation resources from Maryland State Police Aviation, United States Coast Guard, Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, and Saint Leonard Volunteer Fire Department are assisting in the search.
