Marydel Chicken House Burns Down; Fire Marshal Investigating
MARYDEL, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that destroyed a chicken house early Saturday morning.
At 2:10 a.m. on Nov. 22, crews from the Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company responded to Barclay Road following reports of a fire from a passerby. Fifty firefighters battled the blaze for 90 minutes before successfully putting out the fire.
The house, owned by Manahil LLC, was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The total damage to the structure and its contents is estimated to be $300,000.
The fire is believed to have originated somewhere in the interior of the chicken house, but the cause remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-819-3500.
