House Fire in Laurel Leaves One in Critical Condition
LAUREL, Del. – The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a residential structure fire that left one in critical condition on Saturday night.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 16, the Laurel Fire Department and assisting mutual aid fire companies responded to the 32000 block of Sussex Highway. Upon arrival on the scene, crews found a single family dwelling structure with fire and smoke showing. Firefighters successfully gained access to the burning home to remove an unresponsive male victim. EMS personnel immediately began life saving measures before transporting the victim to TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital.
The victim is currently in critical condition.
Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshals responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Damage is estimated at $80,000. There were no other reported injuries.
