(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The giving season may be just a week away from officially kicking off, but Dorchester County Tourism is starting Thursday in helping four legged friends in need.

The Dorchester County Welcome Center is beginning their 3rd annual pet supply drive Thursday, with the goal of bringing in supplies for animal shelters and organizations in Cambridge.

That includes Baywater Animal Rescue and Dorchester County Dog Control.

The event is inspired by one special dog who Milley who passed away a couple of years ago.

She helped promote Dorchester tourism.

This year, they’re asking for dry and wet dog food, towels, beds, and blankets.

“The supply drive is so crucial for this time of year, especially now when everybody’s kind of watching their pennies. We need to make sure our animals are taken care of as well, and they water rescue as well as Dorchester County dog control. There’s a lot in the community to make sure,” says Dorchester Tourism’s Holly Gilpin.

The supply drive will run through January, and supplies can be dropped off at the Cambridge Welcome Center.
