Discover Delmarva Arts: Painting with a purpose

BERLIN, Md. – One look inside Patrick Henry’s studio in Berlin and you’ll see that art isn’t just a pass time for him, it’s his entire life.

Patrick has always been a painter, often specializing in realism, but he certainly doesn’t shy away from dabbling in other forms.

“It was when I was 14 that I bought my first oil painting kit and was basically self-taught in the art of oil painting,” Patrick said.

And one of his most recent pieces is of the historical Germantown School in Berlin which will be featured as a mural at the school.

“Worcester County was not a cultural Mecca 40 years ago, but I’m proud to be a part of the awareness of the need for arts in our community,” Patrick said.

For aspiring artists, Patrick has this advice:

“Embrace your passion, embrace the creative passion and to give it the same time and attention as you would, say, a child, or if you didn’t have a child or a pet, you know you’ve got to committed to it,” Patrick said.
