Diakonia holds Thanksgiving Turkey Trot with proceeds helping the local shelter
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Local Worcester County homeless shelter – Diakonia is celebrating Thanksgiving with a turkey trot. The 4th annual Thanksgiving 5k run and walk will take place tomorrow morning, with registration starting 8 a.m.
It will be held at the Ocean City Boardwalk. The dog-friendly event will allow people to walk and run the event based on experiences.
All proceeds are going to Diakonia, which supports the groups mission to provide food, shelter, and critical resources to those in need. Executive Director Ken Argot says he is excited for the event.
“There is still time to sign up, you can go to www.diakoniaoc.org, and there will be a pop-up you can click and ge tyour ticket there. You can come the day of, and we will receive cash, check, whatever you got. And we can’t wait for tomorrow.”
Currently Diakonia has raised $33,000 for the event, with a goal of $40,000. They also expect over 500 registrations for the event, the most in its history.
Argot would like to thank major sponsors like Bank of Ocean City and Delmarva Power.
He also thanks the town of ocean city for giving them full reign of the boardwalk.
