DEVELOPING: Easton High School Evacuated Following Bomb Threat

1280 Easton High School Fire

EASTON, Md. – The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) has responded to Easton High School following a bomb threat made against the school on Tuesday.

All staff and students were evacuated from the building while deputies secured the campus. Students’ families were asked to not respond to the school until the investigation of school grounds was complete.

An update was posted by TCSO to social media at 2:20 p.m. stating that students would not be moving to a secondary location as previously indicated. Instead, students will be picked up at the football stadium. Students that ride buses will continue on their regularly scheduled bus routes. Student drivers will be dismissed after all vehicles are cleared by authorities.

This incident follows a statement released by Talbot County Sheriff Joe Gamble on Monday evening, which stated that the TCSO had been working with Talbot County Public Schools (TCPS) for several weeks concerning a “non-criminal mental health situation.” As a result, deputies and TCPS security staff have had an increased presence at all public schools in the county.

Authorities have not connected the bomb threat at Easton High School with the statement issued yesterday at this time.

WMDT will continue to report on this story as updates become available.
