Women Supporting Women celebrates a successful October
SALISBURY, Md. — Women Supporting Women is celebrating a busy Breast Cancer Awareness Month filled with fundraising and events to spread awareness.
The group raised tens of thousands of dollars to support survivors through its events, as well as others who have been affected by breast cancer on the Eastern Shore.
“So far, the fundraising has been amazing. We’re still waiting on some of those numbers to come in, but it has been a very successful October for us, and we could not thank this community, our sponsors, our survivors and anyone who supports this organization more,” said Marketing Coordinator Raven Cook.
She added, “We’ve had the 24th annual Walk for Awareness, which was held in mid-October. We raised well over $20,000 from that event, and we had great support from the community and our survivors, who always come out and show up for us.”
Women Supporting Women is hosting a Breast Cancer 101 Educational Conference Saturday, Nov. 1.
The Salisbury-based grassroots nonprofit was founded by three local women more than 30 years ago. Today, the organization continues its mission of providing awareness, education and support to those affected by breast cancer.
