Wicomico County Health Department hosts free flu clinic

SALISBURY, Md. — The Wicomico County Health Department will host a flu clinic from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. tomorrow.

Both the FluMist and traditional flu vaccine will be available for children, and a high-dose flu vaccine will be offered to adults 65 and older. Vaccines are free, but participants are asked to pre-register online or call the Health Department. Medicare recipients should bring their cards.

Olivia Butler, Director of Nursing at the Wicomico County Health Department, encouraged the public to get vaccinated, stating, “One of the best ways to prevent the flu is to get the flu vaccine. People need to get it each year because it’s updated based on circulating viruses. Even if they got the vaccine last year, they still need one this year.” Butler also recommended good hand-washing practices and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.

Additional flu clinics will be held Friday and Nov. 5.
