SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police (MSP) are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place early Saturday morning.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Oct. 4, officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to the 200 block of East Main Street for reports of a fight in progress. Upon arrival on the scene, police located a male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was transported to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional where he was pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Kem’mon La’Austin Walker of Eden, Maryland.
The MSP Homicide Unit was requested to respond and take the lead on the investigation. Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians from the MSP Forensic Sciences Division processed the scene and collected evidence. Additional assistance is being provided by members of the Salisbury Police Department.
Witnesses tell us dozens of people were on scene before police and EMS arrived.
Walker’s death has shaken the community, especially those at United Church of First Born in Salisbury, where he was an active congregant. According to Pastor Vanessa Duncan, Walker was a member of the church for 14 years.
“When he walked in, he was always smiling… He played a big part in our church as a drummer and our musician ministry of music,” Pastor Duncan said.
Pastor Vanessa Duncan tells us that the church community is heartbroken– remembering Walker as someone whose faith and music touched everyone around him.
“He would mentor; he was teaching the young men how to play the drums. He himself was a very good drummer and he was also learning how to play the keyboard and organ as well,” Pastor Duncan said.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact MSP at 443-298-9447.
