UPDATE: Man Arrested after Striking USPS Mailbox in Ocean Pines

UPDATE: The Ocean Pines Police Department have arrested a man in connection with a single car accident that occurred earlier on Wednesday.

Upon arrival on the scene, officers located a red Ford F150 lying on its driver’s side that appeared to have run over the U.S. Post Office Mailbox that was mounted in the median strip.

Officers determined the driver, identified as 34-year-old Matthew Kyle Crawford of Willards, was speeding on the wet roadway and lost control of the truck. A computer check by police revealed that Crawford did not have a driver’s license. Additionally, there was also an outstanding warrant for theft from the State of Missouri that was extraditable from the State of Maryland.

Crawford was taken into custody and transported to the Ocean Pines Police Station where he was processed and then taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following that initial appearance, Crawford was detained in the Worcester County Detention Center without bond pending extradition back to Missouri.

 

OCEAN PINES, Md. – The Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single car accident that resulted in vehicle roll over on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 8, crews were dispatched to the area of 26 Ocean Parkway for a reported vehicle accident. Upon arrival on the scene, crews found a single vehicle that had struck a USPS mailbox and subsequently overturned.

Fire and EMS personnel quickly assessed the scene and evaluated the driver, who declined additional medical treatment and transport. Crews secured the vehicle and mitigated hazards while ensuring the safety of nearby residents and traffic. No injuries were reported in connection with this incident.
