Treat Street Returns!!
SALISBURY, Md. — Treat Street is back for its 11th year, and organizers are excited to welcome trick-or-treaters.
Kayla Harrison of the Salisbury Maryland Jaycees said, “The reason why we have it downtown is we feel like it’s a nice, central location for people all over Salisbury to come and hang out. This is an event for children and their families to have a safe place — a trick-or-treat, safe environment.”
Families and children can enjoy popcorn stations, face painting, storytelling and, of course, plenty of big candy bars. Candy will be sorted into cauldrons to avoid cross-contamination. For those with allergies, there will be toys, stickers and fidget items available as alternatives. Organizers also encourage attendees to explore community resources that will be on hand during the event.
“People passing out candy will be from local resources that people might need assistance from, making it a warm introduction,” Harrison said. “It’s a chance to meet parents and let them know, ‘We’re here if you need us.’ There will also be local businesses, and WMDT will be there. We’re really excited for it.”
“There will even be a few special guests in attendance,” Harrison said. “We have characters that come as well, so you’ll see Sal the Bear come out, and normally Sammy the Seagull comes, too.”
Treat Street will take place in downtown Salisbury on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
