TidalHealth hosts Walk With a Doc
SALISBURY, Md. — TidalHealth is partnering with the nonprofit organization Walk With a Doc to host community strolls in downtown Salisbury.
TidalHealth hosted its first Walk With a Doc in September and is hosting another Saturday, Oct. 4, in downtown Salisbury. The walk is part of TidalHealth’s Reach initiative, funded by the Maryland Community Health Resource Commission. Participants can join doctors from TidalHealth in discussing important health topics before taking a group stroll downtown.
“It’s all about getting community members active, reducing the rates of diabetes, hypertension, the complications associated with it, and expanding access to health care,” said Bobbi McDonald, a TidalHealth community health educator.
Program coordinators say it’s an excellent opportunity to meet TidalHealth providers and other members of the community while receiving education on topics such as sleep health, exercise, nutrition and more. TidalHealth plans to host a walk on the first Saturday of every month and hopes to expand the program to other towns on Delmarva.
