Three-Car Accident in Georgetown Kills Two
GEORGETOWN, Del. – The Delaware State Police (DSP) are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that took place Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Oct. 5, a Hyundai Sonata was stopped at the stop sign on West Robbins Road at Redden Road. Simultaneously, a Volkswagen Tiguan was traveling westbound, and a Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Redden Road, both approaching West Robbins Road. A preliminary investigation by police revealed that the Hyundai failed to remain stopped, and instead entered the intersection where it struck the Volkswagen. As a result, the Volkswagen overturned multiple times and rolled over onto the Toyota.
The driver of the Toyota, an unidentified man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the Toyota, a 31-year-old man from Georgetown, was also pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 70-year-old man, and his passenger, a 59-year-old woman, both of Ocean View, were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 57-year-old woman from Bloomfield, New Jersey, was not injured.
