The Salisbury Police Department is working on a new program

SALISBURY, MD. — The Salisbury Police Department is working on bringing back their telephone reassurance program.

It’s mental illness awareness week and Chief David Meienschein shared that they are looking at bringing back an old program. The goal is meant to help pair folks up with someone to best support them with their mental health and other things they may need.

The program would help people and older folks that may not have anyone left in their family to rely on.

Meienschein shared, “We’re going to have a variety of volunteers that we’re going to put together that would be able to willing to come in to volunteer their time to call these individuals and just check on them to see how they’re doing and to be able to offer some kind of assistance, which really ties in very well.”

This program is still in discussion, there is no set day for when the program will start running.
