The Princess Anne Library hosts Halloween Block Party

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Princess Anne Library hosted a Halloween Block Party. Dani Craige is the Library Services Manager for Princess Anne branch and says its been a staple for the community.

“It is something we have done the entirety of my career here in the library.”

She along with other cohorts are organizing the event. Adrianna Warfield is the Children’s Services Coordinator for Somerset County Libraries. She said they have a plethora of activities for the kids and community members.

“We will have all kinds of activities for kids. We will have a coloring area, a popcorn bar, a snowcone, and a game section.”

The annual block party has been huge for the community. Trick or treat, carnival games are some of the biggest on the forefront. Adrianna expects all of Princess Anne to be bustling.

“We’re connected by Prince William Street, so people will flood down that street, and that’s where all the trucks and police department will be parked. Then they can flow into the Princess Anne library yard, and that’s where they can have all their fun.”

The Princess Anne Police Department will be at the event as well, giving away free hot dogs. Craige, tells WMDT it’s all about community engagement.

“The streets are closed off, and the parents don’t have to worry. A lot of our regular patrons come in, and with word-of-mouth spreading, so we usually get some newcomers in as well. It’s a great way to get people in our doors.”>

Craige added that the library is pivotal to the community.”People need it, libraries are some of the last few places we can go and exist for free. You don’t walk through the doors with the expectation to buy things.”

The Crisfield Library is holding a fall fest event on November 8th.  it will be held in the parking lot and is expected to have 30 vendors.
