Snow Hill actively seeking local businesses to move downtown
SNOW HILL, Md. – Local officials are trying to persuade local small business owners to move their businesses to downtown Snow Hill.
The town is getting creative to draw more interest. They hope to fill the vacant properties, and they will be incentivizing the business owner.
Incentives include two months’ free rent, large allowances for equipment purchases, and support with promotion.
Board of Directors member of Downtown Snow Hill Inc, Diana Nolte, said this is a great time for proposals. “For the purpose of taking a downtown space that’s vacant, and getting a business running and operating by the end of this year.”
The hope is that this will improve foot traffic and improve the economy. James Chartier owns Hansen’s Craftery and believes the town has shown the downtown area is more vibrant.
“Snow Hill is really trying to do some things to make people come out and make the town come and spend their day.”
The town has pushed revitalization with this concept, and the Bank Street Promenade.
Nolte calls the promenade project a huge step forward. “So the idea from the Bank Street project is to connect our river with the downtown shopping district, and it’s going to be amazing.”
Officials think that pet supply/service, home furnishing, and specialty brewing businesses would thrive.
Selection requires the business to be open by 2025, address a community need, or utilize a sustainable model.
Proposals are due by November 1st, and more information email DowntownSnowHill@gmail.com
