Shoplifting Arrest Turns Into Drugs and Weapons Charges in Rehoboth

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – The Rehoboth Beach Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday for shoplifting, but found much more than stolen merchandise.

At approximately 7:55 a.m. on Oct. 1, officers were called to the 400 block of Rehoboth Avenue for a report of shoplifting. Officers were able to locate the suspect who was still in the area, identifying him as 25-year-old Korey Edge of Harrington.

While conducting their investigation, officers discovered that Edge was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and other related paraphernalia. He was also in possession of a folding knife with attached metal knuckles.

Edge was taken into custody without incident on charges of shoplifting, possession of a deadly weapon, and possession of a tier one controlled dangerous substance. He was released on $8,000 unsecured bond and scheduled to appear at court at a later date.
