Salisbury 18-Year-Old Convicted of First Degree Murder in 2023 Gang Shooting
SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico County State’s Attorney Office has secured a conviction in the deadly Pizza City shooting that took place in 2023.
On Friday, Oct. 24, following a five-day trial, 18-year-old Mykel Elliot of Salisbury, was convicted by a jury of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, gang participation, and other related charges. Elliot will remain in custody pending sentencing.
In the late hours of Apr. 15, 2023, Elliot and others sought out the location of several individuals near Downtown Salisbury, seeking revenge for a video posted earlier that evening. The video was perceived by Elliott and his associates as a challenge in an ongoing gang feud. Elliott and others located the victims at Pizza City early on the morning of Apr. 16, shooting one victim to death and shooting another surviving victim multiple times.
“Elliott’s conviction underscores what law enforcement can achieve through coordinated, determined investigation and prosecution,” said State’s Attorney Jamie L. Dykes. “The jury’s courage in delivering their verdict reflects their commitment to truth and community safety.”
One other defendant has pleaded guilty to first degree murder, and one individual has been convicted of being an accessory after the fact.
