Planned power outage in Milford this weekend for infrastructure upgrades

MILFORD, Del. — Milford officials say a planned eight-hour power outage this weekend will allow crews to make key infrastructure upgrades that is required for a project and the longterm of the city.

Crews are expected to work as quickly as possible to minimize disruption, according to officials.

“It’s very important that we get this done as quickly as we can,” said Milford Mayor Todd Culotta. “But it’s also critical to make sure the system is ready for future upgrades so we don’t have outages like this again.”

City leaders emphasized that public safety and service continuity remain top priorities during the planned outage.

“If anybody has an emergency or something we’re not aware of, they’re free to call our customer service, which also connects to our police department on weekends,” Culotta said. “We have adequate staff in place to manage traffic and traffic lights during the outage.”
