Pink Lady Tournament supports breast cancer research
OCEAN PINES, Md. – The Ocean Pines Ladies and Men’s Golf Association teamed up for their annual Pink Lady Golf tournament. Community members and golfers were at the Ocean Pines Golf Club for a good cause.
The tournament supports breast cancer care and research. President of Ocean Pines Lady Golf Association, Denise Stevens, said the power of teamwork and community can move mountains.
“We’re here today to celebrate all our ladies here, and put on a great event for the Pink Lady and breast cancer awareness. Whenever you get a group of ladies together, good things happen.”
The money and proceeds that are donated go to Atlantic General Hospital. Brooke Williams, AGH Director of Medical Imaging at Atlantic General, said the community gains a lot from it.
“They’re are a lot of women that can’t afford breast or cervical screenings, so what we do is take that money and put it towards their account.”
And Director of Golf Operations for the club, Bob Beckelman, said there is nothing better than competing for those who need it. “AGH has the funds to do free diagnoses and mammograms in the community, which is a fantastic cause.”
The weather during the event didn’t stop the show. It was raining throughout, but the event was happening rain or shine. During the tournament, contests, door prizes, and 50/50 drawings were all featured.
Bob Ciprietti enjoyed the event, he said the rain doesn’t stop good from happening. “A lot of heart, and they are going out and play in the rain for a great cause, and the best part is all this the ladies raise, it stays local.”
If you are interested in a donation, Laura Powell of Atlantic General said options are available.
“If anyone would like to make a specific donation, you can always write a check to the AGH Foundation, or you can also go online and click donate now.”
