DELMARVA – The Brandywine Valley SPCA is hoping to clear out kennels and find forever homes for some of its most overlooked residents — dogs over a year old and weighing more than 30 pounds.
To help change that, the center is launching a special promotion aimed at dogs over a year old and weighing more than 30 pounds. These are dogs full of personality and potential, just waiting for a second chance. Whether it’s a playful pup or a mellow companion, staff say now’s the time to adopt. It’s all about helping these overlooked pets finally find the families they deserve.
Under the promotion, adopters can “pick their price” — deciding what they want to pay for the adoption fee. Shelter staff say nearly every dog at the center qualifies for the offer.
“Any dog that’s over a year old and over 30 pounds, like Cindy here — who was being a pill — would be eligible for the promotion,” one staff member said. “So you can come pick really any dog here at the Animal Rescue Center. We’ve only got a couple that don’t qualify. And you decide what your adoption price is going to be, and you take home a new family member.”
The shelter hopes the added flexibility will encourage more families to consider adopting larger dogs, who often stay at the center longer than their smaller counterparts.
The promotion is ongoing, and the center encourages potential adopters to visit, meet the animals, and find the right match.
