Man Arrested After Refusing to Leave Easton Restaurant

EASTON, Md. – The Easton Police Department has arrested a man from Federalsburg after he got into an altercation with restaurant staff on Sunday.

On Oct. 5, officers were assisting with a medical call at Doc’s Downtown Grille. During this incident, restaurant staff began to inform remaining patrons that it was time to exit the business. Officers then observed a verbal confrontation between two individuals, one of which was identified as 23-year-old Christopher J. Diehl.

Diehl was yelling at employees while they advised him to leave several times. He then swung his hand, in which contained a glass bottle, at one of the employees. At that point, officers intervened and escorted Diehl from the premises before placing him under arrest. Officers report that Diehl appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during their interaction.

Diehl was charged with second degree assault and intoxicated public disturbance. Diehl was transferred to the Talbot County Detention Center, and later released on his own recognizance.
