Major House Fire in Salisbury; MD Fire Marshal Investigating

 

Salisbury House Fire

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Fire Department and other local fire companies responded to a major house fire on Monday evening.

At approximately 5:33 p.m. on Oct. 13, over 50 firefighters responded to a two-story home on Oxbridge Drive for a report by homeowners of a structure fire. Smoke alarms were present and activated on the property.

Crews report that the fire took two hours to control, ultimately resulting in a partial collapse of the of the house in the area above the garage.  The total damages are estimated to be around $400,000.

The fire is believed to have originated in the garage, but the preliminary cause is still under investigation.

Only one occupant was treated on scene for smoke inhalation. Five individuals have been displaced as a result of the fire. The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
