M&T Bank in Cambridge Robbed; Police Connect Incident with ones in Hurlock, Seaford

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) is investigating a bank robbery that took place on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 11:12 a.m. on Oct. 22, officers responded to the M&T Bank on Sunburst Highway for a report of a bank robbery. Police say that a middle aged African American male, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with colorful writing on the front, entered the bank and approached a teller. The suspect then produced a note to the teller requesting money. He was handed over an undisclosed amount of money, before fleeing on foot and then entering a vehicle that was parked at a nearby business. The vehicle was described as a dark colored possible Toyota Camry or Civic, with dark wheels and possible unknown Delaware registration.

Bank employees were able to place a tracking device in the money that was handed over to the suspect. Initially, the tracking device was showing in the area of Woods Road and Route 50. A search of the area by CPD Officers located a discarded bundle of money.

Police have determined through a preliminary investigation that the suspect in this robbery is the same as the one involved in recent bank robberies in Hurlock, Maryland and Seaford, Delaware.

An investigation into this robbery is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident or the ones like it to contact CPS at (410)228-3333.
