Kiddo Halloween parade at the Wicomico County Public Library

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. — The Wicomico County Public Library hosted its annual Halloween parade early this morning, offering a festive and safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.

Laura Toner, youth services library associate, said the event allowed children to “trick or treat their way through the library.” She added, “It’s a fun way, especially for our little ones who might be a little tired before regular trick-or-treating starts.”

The event provides a warm, welcoming environment for children to enjoy toys, treats, and activities that accommodate various dietary restrictions.

“We like to have all kinds of options available for friends who may have allergies or don’t eat candy,” Toner said.

Library staff said the goal is to create a fun experience while also offering educational opportunities.

“We’re really grateful to have the opportunity to offer this kind of programming where kids can come, have fun, learn together, and enjoy story time, and then still celebrate and make friends along the way,” Toner said.

Toner, who has led story time at the library for nearly three years, shared that the event is also special to her. “I’ve made a lot of lifelong friends, and it’s so fun watching the kids grow up and seeing them come back,” she said.

For those heading out for traditional trick-or-treating later tonight, Toner reminded everyone to stay safe, wear bright colors, and have a Happy Halloween!
