‘Keep Berlin Cool’ Tree-Planting initiative kicks-off
BERLIN, Md. — The Town of Berlin is rolling out a new environmental initiative.
The “Keep Berlin Cool” program is funded by a grant from the Maryland Coastal Bays Program and is aimed at increasing the town’s tree canopy while reducing stormwater runoff.
“First and foremost, we want to inspire residents to plant trees and do their part,” Mayor Zack Tyndall said. “Trees provide shade, help with stormwater retention, and play a huge role in the health and beauty of our community.”
Town officials say the effort will not only beautify Berlin neighborhoods but also support climate resiliency by mitigating the urban heat island effect and managing heavy rainfall.
Those who want to get involved can contact the town or visit the official Berlin website for more information.
