FREE Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day in Worcester County

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – County residents get the chance to discard pesky items in their homes.

On Saturday, November 1st, a free household hazardous waste collection will take place in Newark, Maryland.

It’s from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Central Landfill Site Lane.

Worcester County Recycling Manager Bob Keenan tells us more.

“Citizens can bring any kind of solvents, oil-based paints, gasoline, and batteries — lithium or regular”, said Keenan. “What we ask you not bring is all other electronics instead of computer towers and laptops. We ask that you put that in the mainstream trash.”

Items that will be included:

  • Computers & Laptops
  • Gasoline
  • Gas/Oil Mixtures
  • Fuels
  • Acids
  • Cleaners
  • Solvents
  • Ammonia
  • Bleach
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Pesticides
  • Thinners
  • Herbicides
  • Wood Preservatives
  • Wood Strippers

You must dispose of solidified water based pain in trash. To solidify, add dirt, water, kitty litter, and mulch.

Items that will not be accepted:

  • Explosives
  • Ammunition
  • Medical Waste
  • Radioactive Materials
  • Asbestos
  • Televisions
  • Remotes
  • Keyboards
  • Mouse
  • Scanners
  • VCR’s
  • CD Player’s
  • Calculators
  • Cell Phones
  • Radios
  • Stereos
  • CB Radio

No materials will be accpeted from Business, Industrial, or Commercial sources.
