DSP Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Police (DSP) are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday evening in Georgetown.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 16, a Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway east of Gravel Hill Road. At the same time, an Audi A4 was traveling eastbound on the same highway. For reasons still under investigation, the Honda crossed the center line, entered the eastbound lane of travel, and into the path of the Audi. The front of the Honda subsequently struck the front of the Audi.

The driver of the Honda, a 25-year-old man from Laurel, who was not properly restrained at the time of the accident, was taken to an area hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The driver of the Audi, an 18-year-old woman from Hockessin, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

DSP Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact Sergeant A.
