BRIDGEVILLE, Del. — Delaware State Police Troop 5 invited residents to join them for coffee and conversation Thursday morning during a Community Café event at McDonald’s in Bridgeville.

The meet-and-greet gave neighbors a chance to sit down with troopers, ask questions, and share concerns in a relaxed setting. The goal, police said, is to strengthen relationships and foster open communication between law enforcement and the community they serve.

“We’re here to serve and protect our community, and we’re open for dialogue,” said Capt. Lance Skinner of Troop 5. “We encourage residents to interact with us as much as possible.”

Troop 5 officials said they hope events like this will help build trust and understanding across Sussex County, while reminding residents that officers are always available to listen and provide support.
