Delaware Fire Marshal Investigating Fire in Odessa
ODESSA, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating a house fire that took place Monday.
On Oct. 13, the Odessa Fire Company was called to the Boyds Corner Farm neighborhood for a report of a house on fire. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the residence. Several nearby fire companies were called to assist.
Crews report that putting out the fire was hampered by the weather conditions. The residences on both sides of the initial house fire were also damaged.
Deputy Fire Marshals responded to the scene and are currently investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
One female resident was injured in the fire and transported to ChristianaCare for smoke inhalation. The damage to the residence is estimated at approximately $500,000. The Red Cross of Delmarva has responded to assist the family.
