Crisfield boy’s soccer tops Pocomoke for milestone victory

CRISFIELD, Md. – Crisfield boy’s soccer beat Pocomoke 2-1 on Monday evening in Crisfield.

The game remained scoreless until Crisfield’s Yahir Galvin delivered a strike from long range to put the Crabbers up 1-0 with 10 minutes to play in the first half.

Crisfield extended their lead with a PK goal from Conner Haynie in the early minutes of the second half.

Pocomoke would get on the board in the game’s 64th minute with David Huerta cleaning up a loose ball in the box, but the Warriors were unable to close the gap from 2-1.

It was a particularly meaningful win for the Crabbers, marking the 100th career victory for 15-year Head Coach Harold Frock, who was honored with a plaque and ceremony at midfield after the match concluded.

Surrounded by family, peers, and current and former players, Coach Frock reflected on his career accomplishment. “Coaching isn’t just about a W anymore, or x’s and o’s. It’s certainly about everybody who’s out here.” He continued, “The players, the relationships I got to build with all my past players. And then of course my colleagues and everybody. I have a lot of people to thank for being here this far.”

“I grew up in this community. I want to give back to them like they gave to me. I have my team behind me, which means a great deal to me, and then not only that, I have my family, and then I see a bunch of my old players that I used to coach. It’s just a phenomenal accomplishment and I’m glad I got to share it with so many people.”
