Bennett boy’s soccer prevails in penalty kicks, advances to 3A Regional Semifinal

SALISBURY, Md. – James M. Bennett beat Old Mill in penalty kicks to advance to the 3A East II Region Quarterfinals on Wednesday in Salisbury.

The Clippers found themselves down 1-0 at half, but Sebastien Dorvelus equalized with a goal for Bennett in the opening minute of the second half.

From that point, the match was a stalemate at 1-1 through the rest of regulation and two ten-minute periods of overtime.

Bennett jumped out to an early lead in PK’s, but Old Mill was able to knot it up at 3-3 in the 5th round thanks to keeper Landon Godinez, who made a save then turned around and scored one himself.

Penalty kicks were 4-4 heading into the 8th round of kicks when Chase Saulitis buried his chance, putting the Clippers ahead 5-4.

Bennett goalie Christian Lawrence sealed the contest with a save on Old Mill’s following attempt.

James M. Bennett will play Severna Park in the 3A East II Region Semifinal.
