Worcester Co. introduces Strengthening Families program

SNOW HILL, Md. — The Worcester County Health Department is introducing its Strengthening Families program beginning Sept. 30.

Families are invited to participate in the 9-week program designed for parents and guardians with children ages 7 to 17. Participants will attend weekly classes and workshops with an evidence-based curriculum in Worcester County. The program is designed to help strengthen local families’ bonds and communication through group learning and activities.

Sessions are two hours per week and will include a free family dinner at the beginning of every session. Topics covered will include: how to communicate better, healthy behaviors, managing stress, and other skills to strengthen the family connection. Families have the opportunity to receive prizes and other incentives for participating in the program.

“We can do all the work we want to with an individual child, but the work has to be done as a whole with that family unit,” program manager Sandy Kerrigan said.

Interested families may register for the program at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/238QMNY. For more information or to register by phone, call 410-632-1100 ext. 1041.
