Wicomico Council member Josh Hastings announces run for delegate in District 38

SALISBURY, Md. — Wicomico County Council member Josh Hastings has announced his run for state delegate in District 38.

Hastings, who has served two terms on the council, said he hopes to represent his county at the state level. He has worked in land conservation for 20 years and said his priorities include protecting natural resources and agriculture, as well as investing in education and jobs. He added that there are several things he would want to address first as a delegate.

“Maryland imports 40% of its energy. We need to do a better job of producing that locally, but also making sure that we’re just addressing basic things — the cost of basic items. And we’ve got a lot of folks here struggling, especially here in Wicomico County. But I want to make sure that I can bring more resources back to the Lower Shore,” Hastings said.

He plans to file his official request next week.
